Angela, Ange, Angie-pops. Wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague or friend, she had many names and many titles but just one reputation, how incredibly kind, helpful, positive and considerate she was. Angela touched so many heart’s, and will be missed by so many .
Angela was born Saturday March 3rd 1962, she was the first child of five siblings born to coal miner Allen Powell and his wife Barbara, Angela was born a Kenfig Hill girl spending her first couple of years there, before moving to Pen-y-fai at 2yrs old. |

But even at a young age Angela had a strong mind and would sometimes refuse to eat her food for her mother so mother would just send her over to Auntie Marlyn where she would sit around the table with the children and eat all her food.
It was at school in Pen-y-fai that Angela met her longest serving friends, finding friends for life from virtually the first day of school, and being assigned to show another lifelong friend around the school, when they started at Pen-y-fai school as an 8yr old.
Angela attended Ynysawdre comprehensive, where once again she fitted in very well making lots of friends, Angela was involved with the Urdd and enjoyed playing the recorder.
Throughout her life Angela was passionate about her faith, attending Sunday school at Symrna from a very young age, then becoming a regular at the Sunday evening service. Angela was Baptised at Symrna in the July of 1977 and had a long membership at Symrna before becoming one of the Deacons of the chapel a few years ago.
After a few years at Bridgend tech, Angela started working at Mainstop (and its many names) Angela being quite a character fitted in very well forging more lifelong friendships.
She moved into the care industry in the 80s as a volunteer, again sealing many lifelong friendships, before moving into care work full time in the 90s, she starting working with The Day Service just after the millennium, again here Angela touched so many lives, bringing so many smiles, but also still not being afraid to tell you what was on her mind, she would sometimes give out one of her famous Paddington bear type glares, we've all had them, but there was so much love in those eyes.
Angela was also passionate about her fitness attending regular gym sessions at first class gym Bridgend and also studying the martial art Tang Soo Do where she achieved the level of 1st Dan Blackbelt. She was always very hard working, competing in European Tournaments in both Portugal and Germany, but she also had a gentle side to her and worked incredibly well with children and new starters. Angela was always very proud and very eager to show what she has learnt.
It was at first class gym that Angela met her future husband Paul in 2001, they married in 2005.
Angela and Paul had no children, but instead Angela doated on her nieces and nephews treating them all pretty much as her children. One of the most important things to Angela was family, her many family dynamics always gave her great pleasure.
Angela had a contagious smile and a passion to live life to the fullest, even to the end.
She had a heart of gold, would put others first and would always go out of her way to help anyone, she loved spending time with her family and friends, going to chapel, and over the years spent lots of her spare time in community care regardless of her regular day job, and would always help someone in need.
The world has lost a magnificent beautiful soul
Angela, your beautiful smile and passion to make the world a brighter place for all you knew will certainly live on in us all and you’ll never be forgotten.
When we look to the sky at night, you will be one of the brightest stars we see.
